The Brand

Founded in 2007 by copywriter Peggy van Neer and sports brand representative Erik van Loo, SNURK emerged from a deeply personal mission: improving the lives of homeless youth in the Netherlands. What started as a single charity duvet cover—Le-Clochard (The Tramp)—has blossomed into an internationally beloved brand stocked in households from Amsterdam to America. All SNURK products are designed in Amsterdam and manufactured in Portugal, where family-run textile businesses combine generations of craftsmanship with ethical, sustainable practices. The brand now offers bedding for newborns to grandparents, loungewear, and complementary products like organic wash sheets.

The Inspiring Story

The turning point came when Erik and Peggy camped on Amsterdam’s Dam Square beneath their unsold Le-Clochard duvet, surrounded by boxes. A camera crew arrived—and suddenly, their charity project exploded into national, then international, headlines. Within weeks, stock sold out. Rather than concluding the venture, they realised they had created something meaningful: stylish, socially conscious bedding that resonated across generations. They shifted production to Portugal in 2016, embracing GOTS-certified organic cotton and EU labour standards. Peggy’s observation was simple yet powerful: children’s bedding was either garish and immature or bland and adult. SNURK’s Dream Big collection—featuring photo-realistic prints—bridged that gap, becoming their breakthrough moment.
