Hook

Did you know that alpaca wool, sourced from the high Andes, can be transformed into heirloom-quality knitwear right here in Europe? As part of inspiring European consumers to buy local for a sustainable Europe, Alpa brings this natural wonder to life through timeless designs.

Brand Intro

Founded in 2012 in Jyväskylä, Finland, Alpa was born from founder Heikki Timlin’s discovery of alpaca wool during a South American journey. Production is primarily in Finland (beanies) and Lithuania (knitwear such as cardigans, sweaters, and dresses), with nearly 100% of manufacturing on the European continent, ensuring transparency and quality.

Inspiring Story

Heikki Timlin’s two-month adventure in South America’s forests and mountains introduced him to alpaca wool’s exceptional comfort—soft, warm, and unmatched. Back in Finland, he collaborated with his sister, textile designer Ainomaria Haataja, to blend this fibre with Scandinavian design. Despite warnings against starting a clothing brand, they launched a small webstore, focusing on rare natural fibres and sustainable European production. Today, Alpa serves over 50,000 customers, with stores in Jyväskylä, Helsinki, and Tampere.
