Did you know that a pair of trousers made in Czechia or Slovakia emits up to 80 % less CO₂ than the same garment shipped from Asia? As part of inspiring European consumers to buy local for a sustainable Europe…
Direct Alpine is a pure Czech brand born in the Giant Mountains and the High Tatras. Founded in 1997 by a small group of passionate climbers, every single piece is still designed and manufactured in their own factory in Turnov (Czech Republic) and in selected partner workshops in Czechia and Slovakia – 100 % European production, zero compromises.
After the Velvet Revolution, Czech climbers suddenly had access to Western brands but quickly discovered most of them simply weren’t tough enough for the sandstone towers, frozen waterfalls and granite big walls they loved. So they started making their own. What began in a garage with a few sewing machines has grown into one of the most respected technical mountaineering brands in Europe, still owned and run by the same mountain addicts who refuse to let production leave the continent.
Why Buy This? You get clothing that is designed, cut, sewn and rigorously tested within a few hundred kilometres of the peaks it will be used on. Shorter transport, direct oversight, fair wages, and repairs handled in-house mean your jacket or trousers will actually last long enough to become a family heirloom – all while keeping European craftsmanship alive.
