Natural light doesn’t fade when mist rolls in—and neither does STOOTS. While most trail headlamps chase raw lumen counts with cold, harsh blue light that bounces off fog like a wall, STOOTS chose a different path: warm, color-accurate illumination that lets you see the terrain instead of just illuminating it. The result is a French precision lamp engineered around a simple principle—every photon matters, and every tenth of a watt saved on the trail means hours more freedom.
Brand Intro
STOOTS hand-builds every single headlamp in Coublanc, Burgundy. From design to final testing: 100 % French conception, assembly and quality control – no shortcuts, no overseas production.
Inspiring Story
STOOTS was born in 2011 in the forests of northern France among a group of friends passionate about outdoor sports. Florian, the founder, began hand-machining aluminum bodies in a small workshop, betting early on LED technology when few outdoor brands dared. By 2018, STOOTS relocated to Coublanc in Burgundy, where they still design and manufacture every lamp and custom electronic circuit in-house. Their philosophy: lightweight doesn’t mean fragile, and high performance doesn’t require compromises on light quality or autonomy.
Why Buy This?
In 2015, STOOTS developed the Mixing Focus technology—an electronic beam-adjustment system that narrows the light cone at higher power levels, preventing lumens from scattering uselessly at the edges. But the real innovation came from listening to users: ultratrail runners and bikepacking athletes complained that bright lamps in humid conditions created a blinding halo. STOOTS responded by deliberately choosing 4000K LEDs with CRI 80—warm, color-revealing light inspired by natural sunlight—despite a 30% efficiency penalty versus colder 6500K alternatives. They made this choice public: sacrifice raw p@ower output to prioritize what your eyes actually need on a 20-hour mountain race.
Who is this for?
You’re a trail runner, backpacker, or mountaineer who spends 8+ hours under stars on technical terrain. You’ve experienced the panic of a bright headlamp creating a white wall of fog at midnight. You value precision and autonomy—you want to know why a design choice was made, not just how many lumens it claims. You’re willing to invest in equipment that respects your vision and won’t betray you on a long push. You make gear decisions based on light quality and reliability, not marketing hype.
