Did you know a 60-year-old fisherman’s coat found in a barn started an entire global brand? As part of inspiring European consumers to buy local for a sustainable Europe…

Stutterheim was born in Stockholm in 2010 when Alexander Stutterheim discovered his grandfather’s decades-old raincoat on the island of Arholma and decided to recreate it. Designed in Sweden and 100% handmade in European workshops (primarily Poland and the Baltics), every piece carries that same heirloom quality.

The founder repaired the old coat, wore it, felt the melancholy and the beauty of Swedish rain, made 200 copies and sold them to friends in a week. From those 200 coats the brand grew into an international icon that turns bad weather into something romantic. “I wanted to make people embrace the rain instead of hiding from it,” says Alexander Stutterheim.
