Bosnia and Herzegovina has centuries of layered culture, craft, and visual identity. Bazerdžan Wear distils that into clothing: T-shirts, blazers, and accessories designed by a team of Sarajevo artists who draw directly on Bosnian symbols, alphabets, and landscapes. There is nothing generic here — each piece carries a specific story, from a medieval script almost lost to history to an endemic cave creature few people outside Bosnia have ever heard of.
More Than a Label
Bazerdžan Wear is the in-house clothing line of Bazerdžan, a concept store opened in 2016 in the heart of Sarajevo’s historic Baščaršija. The store itself is a platform for Bosnian designers and makers — from refugee women producing wool goods to WagaWood with their UNESCO-protected woodcraft — all united by a commitment to local heritage and quality. Bazerdžan Wear grew out of that same philosophy: rather than simply curating others’ work, the team decided to create their own clothing, exactly to their liking. The two are inseparable — understanding the store helps explain why the label exists and what drives it.

Brand Intro
Bazerdžan Wear was founded as the clothing label of Bazerdžan by Zana Karkin in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The label is designed by the “Bazerdžan Girls” — a small team of artists including Ina, Vildana, and Viki — each with a distinct visual style rooted in Bosnian culture, nature, and history. Clothing is produced with the help of local artisans and tailors, using natural fabrics such as cotton, silk, linen, and viscose. The label operates from the Bazerdžan Baščaršija store at Ćurčiluk veliki 12 in Sarajevo, with products also available via the online shop.
Inspiring Story
The Bosančica project is perhaps the most telling example of what Bazerdžan Wear stands for. Bosančica is a medieval Bosnian alphabet that nearly disappeared from everyday use. Rather than treating it as an academic relic, designer Ina turned it into a print: the Bazerdžan name written in Bosančica, sewn onto a modern kimono-like garment. It is the kind of design decision that carries cultural weight without being heavy-handed.
A more recent example is the Thrift Flip collection, written by Zana Karkin and produced in collaboration with local craftswomen. Every piece — upcycled blazers, pencil skirts made from repurposed trousers, waistcoats from leftover material — is genuinely one of a kind. No two pieces are identical. The collection started as a statement against throwaway culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ended up as one of the label’s most distinctive product lines.
Who is this for?
You notice when something is made with intention. You are drawn to objects that carry a story — not printed on a hangtag, but visible in the illustration, the stitching, the choice of fabric. You buy less, but what you buy means something. Bazerdžan Wear is for people who want to feel a connection to what they wear: to a place, a culture, a moment when someone sat down and decided that this piece of clothing should be beautiful, and true.
