Fast consumption dominates today’s footwear market. GALIBIER counters this with boots designed to last 10, even 20 years. The French brand proves that heritage craftsmanship and modern performance can coexist in mountain footwear built for those who measure gear by decades, not seasons.

Brand Intro

GALIBIER was founded in 1922 by Rémy-Alexis Richard in Izeaux, France, as a line of mountaineering boots under the Richard-Pontvert company. Based in the French Alps, the brand specializes in mountain footwear. Current models are designed in Annecy by the All Triangles agency, with manufacturing entrusted to Richard-Pontvert’s long-standing partner in Portugal.

Inspiring Story

The Super Guide was born in the 1950s through direct collaboration with mountain professionals. Legendary alpinists Maurice Herzog, Lionel Terray, and René Desmaison wore these boots on first ascents from the Himalayas to the Polar Regions. Their field feedback shaped a boot that prioritized absolute reliability on vertical terrain. These single-piece 3.5mm leather boots became icons of an era when equipment durability defined commitment.

Who is this for?

You hike where others turn back. You carry loads that test both body and gear. You value boots that can be resoled multiple times rather than replaced. You understand that true mountain footwear earns its place through decades of service, not marketing claims.
