Most sustainable fashion brands talk about the planet. Magbago started with something more personal: skin. Founder Tamara Teodorović was born with atopic dermatitis, and years of searching for clothes that didn’t aggravate her condition led her to build a brand around materials that genuinely respect the body — and the earth. The result is a small, focused collection where every fabric choice is a deliberate act of care.

Brand Intro

Magbago was founded by Tamara Teodorović, a designer based in Bijeljina, Bosnia & Herzegovina. The brand’s name means “change” — a word that captures both its personal origin and its broader ambition. Magbago creates women’s clothing using plant-based materials derived from food and agricultural waste — including Orange Fiber (from citrus by-products), Banana Fabric, and Hemp — alongside Merino and Himalayan Wool. Production takes place in the brand’s own workshop, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and skin-friendly design. As the only brand in the Western Balkans currently working with plant-based textiles at this level, Magbago is a genuine pioneer.

Inspiring Story

Tamara Teodorović didn’t set out to disrupt the fashion industry — she set out to find a dress she could actually wear without discomfort. Born with atopic dermatitis, she spent years navigating a wardrobe of compromises before deciding to build her own solution. That personal mission became Magbago — and it didn’t stop at her own wardrobe.

In 2024–2025, supported by the Creative FLIP initiative and the Goethe-Institut in Brussels, Magbago brought its philosophy into the classroom. Over six months, Tamara ran a Learning Lab at the Technical School in Brčko — working with 17- and 18-year-old fashion design students who had never touched a sustainable fabric. Students transformed discarded textiles into wearable collections, worked with NFC smart labelling, and learned about intellectual property. The school responded by reallocating funds to buy new sewing machines and hire additional staff. “For the first time, I felt proud of what I had created,” one student said.

In 2025, Magbago was awarded second place at the New European Bauhaus Prizes in Brussels — recognised specifically for shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking.

Who is this for?

You wear clothes close to your skin all day, and you’ve noticed the difference materials make — not just for comfort, but for your health. You’re done choosing between stylish and skin-safe. You want to know where your garments come from and what they’re made of, and you’re prepared to invest in pieces that last. You care about the planet but want fashion that fits your real life — not a compromise in a hemp sack.
