Brand Intro
Gramjakt and its production brand Skalmo were founded by Kenneth Shaw in Umeå, Sweden. Kenneth — an American-born hiker and one of Scandinavia’s most respected ultralight voices — started the brand after years of running Ulcomfort.com, one of the world’s leading ultralight hiking blogs. Marcus Falck joined as co-owner in 2021. Together they design, prototype and hand-sew ultralight apparel and accessories in their small workshop in Västerslätt, Umeå — including their flagship Polartec Alpha Hoodies, which have won awards in the ultralight community.
Inspiring Story
The Skalmo philosophy was built on a single trail insight: too often, outdoor gear becomes heavier, more complex, and filled with features that don’t matter when you’re actually out there.
Every Skalmo product starts with a real problem from the trail. The team strips away the unnecessary, refines the design, and tests until only the essential remains:
