There’s something deeply reassuring about footwear that’s been made the same way for a century. Lahtiset proves that traditional craftsmanship and modern comfort aren’t mutually exclusive. In a world of fast fashion, these hand-felted wool products offer warmth, durability, and a connection to Finnish heritage that only improves with age.

Brand Intro

Lahtiset was founded in 1921 by farmer Alex Lahtinen in the village of Partala, Jämsä. The brand crafts felt boots, slippers, hats, and bags from 100% pure sheep’s wool using traditional hand-felting methods passed down through generations. Every product is entirely handmade in Finland, from sheep breeding to finished goods, continuing a century-old tradition that began when felt boot production arrived from Russia in the late 19th century.

Inspiring Story

The Lahtiset story began with a farmer’s vision: Alex Lahtinen established his felt boot factory in Partala during a time when the village hosted seven felt factories side by side. For over a hundred years, the company has preserved the noble skill of manufacturing felt boots, a mastery brought to Finland from Russia. Today, every pair of boots that leaves the factory carries the legacy of the Lahtinen family, even as production has grown to thousands of pairs annually. The craft remains unchanged – pure lamb wool, hand-felted, molded, and dried to create products that breathe, warm, and last for years.

Who is this for?

You value warmth without weight and tradition without compromise. You want footwear that tells a story and accessories that connect you to nature. You appreciate that wool isn’t just a material—it’s a natural wonder that breathes, regulates temperature, and ages beautifully. You’re looking for pieces that will become heirlooms, not landfill.
