Most fashion brands generate around 15% fabric waste during cutting — and accept that as normal. ZEROBARRACENTO doesn’t. Every single garment is patterned so that not one scrap of fabric is left behind. This isn’t a workaround — it’s the design method itself.

Brand Intro

ZEROBARRACENTO was founded in Milan in 2016 by Camilla Carrara, a fashion designer born in 1991 who studied at Politecnico di Milano and later completed a Master’s in Sustainable Fashion at ESMOD in Berlin. After witnessing the shocking quantities of textile waste produced annually at premium Italian manufacturers, she set out to build a brand where zero waste wasn’t a marketing claim but an engineering discipline. The brand makes gender-neutral, seasonless outerwear entirely in Italy using certified recycled and traceable materials, with full supply chain transparency.

Inspiring Story

When Camilla Carrara was a fashion student visiting Italian textile mills, she was struck by the mountains of premium fabric left on the cutting room floor — waste produced by some of the world’s most respected manufacturers. She decided she would build a brand where this was architecturally impossible. In 2016, after winning a 12-month research grant from Salvatore Ferragamo and the Foundation for Climate and Sustainability, she launched ZEROBARRACENTO. The brand’s name encodes its promise: zero for zero waste and no gender restrictions, cento (100) for 100% Italian craftsmanship and full traceability. The patterns are engineered so the entire width of the fabric is used — selvedges become aesthetic details rather than off-cuts.

Who is this for?

You invest in a coat the way others invest in furniture — once, well, for life. You’re tired of seasonal collections that feel disposable by March. You want to wear something that works regardless of your age, your body, or the year it was made. You care where your clothes come from and want to see the supply chain, not just read about it on a hangtag. And you find the idea that a garment can be fully recycled at end of life genuinely exciting.
