Faramugo is a family business based in Luhačovice, Czech Republic, founded by outdoor enthusiasts Vladimír and Nela Bureš. They manufacture nanomembrane outdoor clothing and equipment, pioneering the world’s first nanomembrane sewing. All production happens in their Czech workshop, combining technical innovation with traditional craftsmanship.
Inspiring Story
The Antarctic expedition jacket began as a technical challenge: create clothing that withstands -20°C temperatures, strong winds, and UV radiation while meeting strict environmental standards. Faramugo’s nanomembrane fabrics passed this extreme test, proving their technology works where others fail. Polar explorers now rely on these Czech-made garments for survival in the harshest conditions.
Nanomembrane®
Unlike conventional membranes that use expanded PTFE like Gore-Tex, Faramugo’s Nanomembrane® employs a nano-scale polymer coating directly bonded to the fabric. This eliminates the need for additional lining layers while achieving exceptional vapor permeability above 15,000 MVP. The result is lighter weight, greater flexibility, and superior breathability without compromising waterproofness. Additionally, the production process is completely PFC-free, addressing environmental concerns that traditional membrane technologies often face.
Online jacket configurator
Faramugo’s online configurator lets customers design their Xujo jacket from the ground up. Select base colours, then choose contrasting shades for zips, pockets, cuffs and collar. The interactive tool shows real-time previews as you build your ideal combination. Beyond aesthetics, you can specify exact measurements for a made-to-measure fit that standard sizing cannot match. This bespoke approach extends the Czech mountain tailor concept directly to the end user.
