Not every piece of great outdoor gear is born in Scandinavia or the Alps. Some of the most durable camp cookware in Europe comes from a small factory in Bohemia, where the same deep-draw metalworking traditions have been running since 1925. ALB forming is the kind of brand that doesn’t shout — it just keeps making cookware that works, decade after decade.
Brand Intro
ALB forming s.r.o. is based in Telnice, Czech Republic, and traces its roots to 1925 — originally producing technical and household ceramics and kitchen accessories. After nationalisation under communism, the company shifted to aluminium kitchenware and became known across Central Europe for the ešus, the iconic military-style mess kit. Today, privately re-established in 1992, ALB forming produces camping cookware in aluminium, stainless steel (CrNi18/10), and titanium — for outdoor enthusiasts, bushcrafters, kayakers, and specialist athletes. They also produce precision deep-draw components for aerospace, nuclear energy, and medical industries.
Inspiring Story
The ešus — the classic two-piece camp dining set — is something of a Czech cultural icon. ALB forming has been making it in Telnice for over 70 years, first for military use, then for school camps, and today for a new generation of bushcrafters and wild campers. What started as a state-era production item became, after 1992, a privately owned craft — refined with new materials like titanium while the original aluminium ešus stayed in the catalogue. It’s a rare case of a communist-era product surviving not just in nostalgia, but in daily trail use.
Who is this for?
You appreciate gear with a story — but you also need it to work. You’re the kind of camper or hiker who prefers a Czech-made stainless pot over a generic import, and you know the difference between food-grade aluminium and cheap alloy. You may be a bushcrafter, a kayaker, or a long-distance hiker who wants durable nesting cookware without paying Scandinavian premium prices. You want European manufacturing, honest materials, and cookware that outlasts trends.
