Filip Raboch Custom Backpacks from Czech Republic

One craftsman, one workshop in Prague — custom backpacks in X-Pac, Dyneema and Ecopak, built one stitch at a time.

“From a pile of fabric to a backpack. Built indoors, meant for out there. Hours of work, one stitch at a time. It’s the small details that matter.” — Filip Raboch

Most backpacks are designed in a meeting room and produced on a factory line ten thousand kilometres away. Filip Raboch does the opposite: he starts from the customer’s requirements, cuts the fabric in his Prague workshop, and sews every stitch himself. Since 2018, the Czech craftsman has been building custom backpacks from X-Pac, Dyneema, and recycled Ecopak — and the international ultralight and carry communities have quietly been talking about him ever since.

Brand Intro

Filip Raboch is a hiker and mountaineer based in Prague, Czech Republic, who started making his own gear in 2018 when he couldn’t find a backpack that matched his standards. After making a pack for himself, requests came in from others — and by 2020 he had committed fully to the craft. As a one-person operation, Filip designs, cuts, and sews every item individually in his own workshop. His focus is on minimalist, lightweight design that balances simplicity with smart organisation — not the lightest possible pack, but the most refined balance between weight, comfort, carry ability, and aesthetics. All fabrics are premium laminates: X-Pac, Dyneema Composite Fabric, and recycled Ecopak EPX400.

Inspiring Story

Filip’s first pack was built for himself — a backpack he had always wanted but could never find on the market. That personal dissatisfaction is the foundation of everything Raboch builds. Each order begins with a direct conversation: fabric choice, zipper colour, pocket layout, size adjustments. Reviewers consistently highlight the same thing — not just the quality, but the access to the maker. “Pretty rare in this day and age to be able to talk directly to the craftsperson making your product,” noted one YouTube reviewer. When Carryology — one of the world’s leading carry-culture publications — featured a custom X-Pac admin pouch Filip made on commission, the description said it all: every zipper, every MOLLE loop, every dimension adjusted on request. From a Prague workshop with a sewing machine and a pile of technical fabric, Filip has built a reputation that reaches from Europe to Japan to the United States.

Who is this for?

You’ve bought off-the-shelf packs and found something always slightly wrong — a strap that sits too high, a pocket that opens the wrong way, a fabric that compromises between weight and durability. You’re willing to wait for a custom order because you know the result will be exactly what you specified. You travel light, hike seriously, or carry daily — and you want one pack built for your life, not for the average consumer. You appreciate talking to the person who makes it.
