Most menswear brands promise quality and then quietly outsource production to whoever cuts costs the deepest. MR MARVIS has done the opposite since its very first pair of shorts — every piece handmade in Portugal, same fit, no compromise. In a market flooded with disposable fashion, that kind of consistency is both rare and worth paying attention to.

Brand Intro

MR MARVIS was co-founded in Amsterdam in 2016 by Steven Vrendenbarg, Aafke Tuin, and David Sipkens, with a single ambition: the perfect pair of shorts for men. The brand operates on a direct-to-consumer model, selling online and through its own stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. All garments are handmade by long-term production partners in Portugal, using carefully sourced premium fabrics, buttons, and labels. The philosophy is straightforward: a core collection that never changes its fit, with new colours and occasional additions each season rather than seasonal resets.

Inspiring Story

In 2016, three Amsterdam friends had grown tired of shorts that lost their shape after one summer. Their answer was not to launch another fast-fashion label — it was to build one perfect fit and commit to it permanently. Every season, the same silhouette returns; nothing is discontinued, and nothing is incinerated. That discipline eventually earned MR MARVIS a milestone most Dutch fashion brands never reach: in March 2023, after two years of internal effort, the brand became the largest Dutch clothing brand to achieve B Corp certification, scoring 101.7 on the B Impact Assessment — well above the 83.7 average for Dutch B Corps and the minimum required score of 80. In October 2025, they added GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification, going beyond what B Corp even requires.

Who is this for?

You dress with intention and you’re done replacing clothes every year. You want chinos or shorts that look sharp on a city terrace and still feel right at the end of a long evening. You’ve spent enough on brands that fade, stretch out, or disappear from the catalogue the moment you want to reorder. You care where your clothes are made and who made them. You want a fit you can trust — season after season, in any colour — without starting from scratch each time.
