Most recycled fashion is made from plastic bottles — which sounds good until you realise it sheds microplastics with every wash. Rifò takes a different route: recycled cashmere, wool, and denim from Prato, a Tuscan city with a long textile-recycling tradition. This is circular fashion built on a real local system, not a vague sustainability slogan.

Brand Intro

Rifò was founded in 2017 by Niccolò Cipriani after he witnessed the waste built into the global clothing system while working in Vietnam. Based in Prato, Tuscany, the brand makes circular clothing from recycled cashmere, wool, cotton, denim, and silk. Production takes place within 30 km of the office and involves local artisans in Prato’s textile district. Rifò has been a certified B Corp since 2020.

Inspiring Story

The name Rifò comes from Tuscan dialect and echoes rifare — to remake. That matters, because Prato has been remaking textiles for generations: old garments are broken down, fibres are recovered, and new yarn is spun locally. Rifò did not invent that logic; it chose to build a modern brand on top of it. The result is a label that links old textile knowledge with a current circular model, including take-back schemes, repair, and production designed to avoid unsold stock.

Who is this for?

You have moved away from fast fashion and want clothes with a clearer story behind them. You prefer fewer, better pieces made from recycled natural fibres rather than synthetic “eco” claims. You care where garments are made, how local the production is, and whether a brand thinks beyond the first sale. You are comfortable waiting for a pre-order if that means less waste.
