Most outdoor boots claim Italian quality. SCARPA actually delivers it — from the same small town in the Dolomite foothills where it started in 1938. Every single mountaineering shoe still leaves the factory next to its headquarters in Asolo. That kind of consistency over eight decades is rare in outdoor footwear.

Brand Intro

SCARPA (Società Calzaturieri Asolani Riuniti Per Azioni — literally “United Shoemakers of Asolo”) was founded on August 6th, 1938 in Asolo, a town north of Treviso with a centuries-old tradition of handcrafted footwear. It began as a cooperative of the best local shoemakers, pooling their craft under one roof to produce the finest mountain boots possible. Today, SCARPA remains a family-owned company, with its headquarters and performance manufacturing still in the same Asolo/Montebelluna region. It has never laid off an employee or experienced a strike in over 80 years — a remarkable mark of how the company treats its people.

Inspiring Story

You move through the mountains deliberately. You choose your gear carefully, not because of labels, but because you know that a badly fitted boot means a cut-short summit, a twisted ankle at 2,500m, or blisters on a six-hour descent. You want footwear that was designed and built by people who actually understand what happens on steep, wet rock — not designed for an ad campaign and assembled wherever margins are highest. When 100% of SCARPA’s mountaineering shoes are still made in the same factory as their headquarters, and 90% of all manufacturing stays in Europe, that tells you something about priorities.

Who is this for?

This is for the mountain enthusiast who counts on their footwear — climbers, trekkers, trail runners and ski tourers who want performance backed by genuine European craft. It’s also for the conscious buyer who values knowing where things are made and how long they are built to last.
