Woolpower Thermal Clothing from Sweden

Thermal base layers and mid-layers knitted and sewn entirely in Östersund, northern Sweden, since 1969.

Swedish production focused on the highest quality — this is the very foundation of Woolpower’s mission.

Most base layers are made overseas, assembled in parts, and replaced after two seasons. Woolpower does the opposite. Every garment is knitted and sewn under the same roof in northern Sweden — from first loop to last seam. The Swedish military trusts them. So do polar explorers and daily commuters standing at cold tram stops.

Brand Intro

Woolpower started in 1969 in Östersund, Sweden. Back then, the company made nylon stockings for the Swedish Cooperative Association. In the early 1970s, they co-developed a terry-loop wool fabric together with the Swedish army — Ullfrotté Original — and it became the foundation of everything they make today. In 2010, brothers Adam and Daniel Brånby took over the company. They kept production in Sweden and focused on quality, fair employment, and long-term durability. In 2023, they opened a brand-new 11,000 m² factory in Östersund — the largest clothing production facility in Sweden.

Inspiring Story

In 2021, Woolpower made a bold decision. While most textile brands moved production offshore, they announced plans to build Sweden’s largest clothing factory — in Östersund, the same town where they started. Brothers Adam and Daniel Brånby refused to trade quality for cost savings. Swedish production, fair employment, and full control over every seam were non-negotiable. The factory opened in spring 2023. Each seamstress still sews a complete garment from start to finish — and then signs off on quality herself. One brand, one address, one standard.

Who is this for?

You spend time outdoors in cold weather — running, hiking, skiing, or simply working outside. You’ve bought cheap base layers before and been disappointed: they pill, they smell, they lose their shape after a season. You want one thermal layer that keeps working even when you’re soaked — because Ullfrotté Original continues to insulate while damp, and wool fibres can absorb up to 30% of their own weight in moisture without feeling wet against your skin. You’ve experienced that cold, clammy feeling after a hard effort in synthetic gear — this is the opposite of that. You’re also someone who thinks about where your gear comes from and wants it to align with your values. You’re willing to pay more once, rather than cheap-out twice.
